Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble? by Delirious?

Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble?

Did you feel the mountains tremble?
Did you hear the oceans roar?
When the people rose to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

Did you feel the people tremble?
Did you hear the singers roar?
When the lost began to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

And we can see that God you're moving
A mighty river through the nations
And young and old will turn to Jesus
Fling wide your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

Open up the doors and let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring your hope
Songs that bring your peace
Dancers who dance upon injustice

Did you feel the darkness tremble?
When all the saints join in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokeness

And here we see that God you're moving
A time of Jubilee is coming
When young and old return to Jesus
Fling wide your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

My Glorious by Delirious?

My Glorious

The world's shaking with the love of God
Great and glorious, let the whole earth sing
And all you ever do is change the old for new
People we believe that

God is bigger than the air I breathe
The world we'll leave
God will save the day and all will say
My glorious!

Clouds are breaking, heaven's come to earth
Hearts awakening let the church bells ring
And all you ever do is change the old for new
People we believe that

Elfen Lied

Rating:★★★★
Category:Other
One of the recent new additions to my brother's anime collection. Not for Pokemon fans. More mature in content. Contains nudity and graphic violence. The first 5 minutes of the first episode wil leave you retching a bit liao. Pretty senseless gore. But as you proceed along the series, there's a lot of other issues that will surface up. Child sexual abuse, the idea of being discriminated because of physical differences, friendship, what our memory is, psychological trauma.

Go visit the offical site for more details, but it's in Japanese.

on postmodernity, work and living to God alone

blasting my iPod Shuffle on my bro's laptop while composing this entry. of course, have to use headphones, as it's past the unearthly hours liao. Just came back froim church prayer and praise night. Pastor Ed is excited about the upcoming IDMC (Intentioanal Disciple Making Conference). He's going to talk about postmodernity and the influence on the church, and how the church should rise up and retake the contours of the intellectual landscape. Quite a mouthful and those are the simpler words he used. His prayer request is that the Holy Spirit guide him into wisdom in delivering the message, how to make the difficult and challengng message relevant yet understandable to the masses.

me, i'm not really motivated to go for the conference. dunno why leh. ah well, as He leads. am waiting for my friends to come back and share what they learnt from the conference... I know already! i'm just too lazy... :P

Next, about work. Just now a few of my care group people were just chatting about work. well, more ranting and complaining how work life is crazy in Singapore. how people do not leave offcie by the clock, but stay back to put in "unproductive" hours, just to get that "face time" with their bosses. Not that my friends want to do that, but sometimes it's due to their bosses appearing at the 11th hour and 59th minute, asking them questions which the bosses could have asked earlier. Or different scenario, where my friends are torn between showing good testimony at workplace, thus have to pitch in more than 100%, in terms of time and resources; but that option will leave them feel like little squeezed rags. the other option is to be "bo chup" like me; but that definitely won't leave you with a good testiomony at the market place. I guess the proverbial balance must come into place.

Anyway, it is possible to be godly and still shine at the workplace. In the Old Testament, one such figure was Daniel. For those not familiar, he was one of the people carried off to Babylonia during the exile of the Jewish nation. So to make a long story short, he started from a lowly position and rise to greatness (2nd only to the king himself). Not because of his own capabilities, but because of his devotion to God. Even when Daniel's enemies tried to ensnare him, he did not give up on his daily devotion to the LORD. And God delivered him from the lion's den, because of God's faithfulness.

And in the New Testament, we have "da man", the King of King, and the Lord of Lords, the GREATEST, Jesus Himself ~ who came not to be served, but to serve. If you really want to talk about job extremities, you cannot find a worse job description than that of Christ (in the last moments of Jesus' time on earth). Dragged away, spitted upon, birched, beaten, questioned, humiliated. Yeaps, i think that will beat anyone's worst day at the marketplace. Yet, did we find "da man" complaining?

e.g. "Heavenly Father, 'bway sai la' ("cannot la"). How can? 'Bway ta han la' ("cannot bear la")!!!"

Of course that was not His resposne. Jesus knows what is He made for, to complete the works of His Heavenly Father, and to do His will. And that is why I stay up so late to write this, because I know if I don't write this out, probably can't sleep tonight.

But this is getting too long, even by my standards. Here's my parting shot. Got this while reading the Bible this morning.

The death he (Jesus) died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. - Romans 6:10 (NIV)

How wonderful this single verse is. May it brings comnfort to those who are weary, and may it spurs us on to live for God's glory.

“ For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. ”- Romans 1:20

argh, had to re-write this blog, cos can't save the entry just now. so will keep it short. Went to PSA to have malay food, because got sick and tired of food in the staff canteen. But was drenched to the hilt on the way back. In the end had to leave office early, because of wet clammy feet. there, i condensed the essence of my first article into these 3 short sentences. Now i gotta go and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Nitez!

brain drain...

lazy saturday for me. din do anything much, but still feels lethargic. Tried fixing the piping at home, but not that skilled. in the end, have to shut the mains in our home so that the house won't be flooded. ah, only when you are deprived of something, then you realized the goodness of that something which you always take for granted. never thought piped water is really such a privilege. then again, i guess i wun feel so bad if everyone is deprived of it (the evil one in me relishes at that though)... i guess it's just having it so near, yet i can do nothing about it, that's making me grouchy...

How glad i am that kinda human thinking dun apply to Christ, my saviour. even though He was fully God during His walk on this earth, Jesus was also fully man, subject to the trials and temptations of the world. i'm glad He din think like me, withholding back or turning away from doing the things the Father willed for Him. :D it's still a struggle for me, learning to place Him at the center of my life. May He continue to grant me obedience and wisdom to follow after Him.

“ The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. ”- Hebrews 1:3

Better Is One Day

Better Is One Day
Written by Matt Redman

E A Bsus
How lovely is your dwelling place, oh Lord Almighty
E Bsus
My soul longs and even faints for you
E A Bsus
For here my heart is satisfied, within your presence
E Bsus
I sing beneath the shadow of your wings

(chorus)
A2
Better is one day in your courts
Bsus
Better is one day in your house
A2
Better is one day in your courts
Bsus
Than thousands elsewhere (repeat)

E A Bsus
One thing I ask, and I would seek, to see your beauty
E Bsus
To find you in the place your glory dwells (repeat)

C#m7 B A Bsus
My heart and flesh cry out, for you the living God
C#m7 B A2 Bsus
Your Spirit's water to my soul
C#m7 B A
I've tasted and I've seen, come once again to me
E/G# F#m7 Bsus
I will draw near to you, I will draw near to you
