Tropic Thunder (2008)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Comedy
Hilarious. Spoof on the movie-making industry. It's not like "Get Shorty", but long the same vibes, except this is much more ... crude :D The opening trailers already had me in stitches... Like what my friend said, won't mind watching this again.

The Road of Lost Innocence (2008)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Books
Genre: Biographies & Memoirs
Author:Somaly Mam
ABOUT THIS BOOK

A portion of the proceeds of this book will be donated to the Somaly Mam Foundation.

A riveting, raw, and beautiful memoir of tragedy and hope

Born in a village deep in the Cambodian forest, Somaly Mam was sold into sexual slavery by her grandfather when she was twelve years old. For the next decade she was shuttled through the brothels that make up the sprawling sex trade of Southeast Asia. Trapped in this dangerous and desperate world, she suffered the brutality and horrors of human trafficking—rape, torture, deprivation—until she managed to escape with the help of a French aid worker. Emboldened by her newfound freedom, education, and security, Somaly blossomed but remained haunted by the girls in the brothels she left behind.
Written in exquisite, spare, unflinching prose, The Road of Lost Innocence recounts the experiences of her early life and tells the story of her awakening as an activist and her harrowing and brave fight against the powerful and corrupt forces that steal the lives of these girls. She has orchestrated raids on brothels and rescued sex workers, some as young as five and six; she has built shelters, started schools, and founded an organization that has so far saved more than four thousand women and children in Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos. Her memoir will leave you awestruck by her tenacity and courage and will renew your faith in the power of an individual to bring about change.

Nepal Trip (12 Oct '08)

We went around the villages to visit our listener groups. The people in the rural areas lead a harsh life (compared to us). Yet they possess a deep joy and hope in God. It was precious to behold the faith on their faces.

Karoshi:Suicide Salaryman

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/462774
"Karoshi" is a Japanese word and means "death by overwork". In this game many things are not what you'd expect and the goal of each level is counter-intuitive: you need to die.

Each stage presents a new challenge. There are several objects you can use to solve puzzles, and in later levels the game will even break it's own rules to surprise you.

50 clever levels and a boss fight at the end. We hope you have fun (killing yourself)!

If you have played the Game Maker version, YES this is an official Flash version!

on catching up after my Nepal trip

Just back from 10 days working-trip in Nepal. Opened up my multiply account and saw I have 77 unread postings from my network. Selectively going them, managed to whittle out 30 plus postings. Ok, now gotta go swimming to cut down my body weight from all the sumptuous feasting of Nepali cuisine.

For those who prayed, a big "Gum xia!" to you! "Oh Lor Zhu" ah! Look out for pics of my Nepali trip on this site~

Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (H.O.M.E)

http://www.home.org.sg/

Vision:

Building a Culture of Welcome where “No man, woman or child is a stranger. We are family.”

The work of H.O.M.E. promotes a ‘culture of welcome` in the remaking of Singapore 21. We believe that our programs and services for foreigners will have a positive impact on Singapore both locally and globally in the following ways:

* A safer and more secure society for all;
* Enhanced skills of foreign workers to serve our nation;
* A global image of a welcoming host country;
* Supporting the work of law enforcement agencies.

H.O.M.E. communicates to the world, that as a people Singapore is law abiding and welcomes guest workers to contribute to nation building. H.O.M.E. has also forged close ties with the foreign embassies in collaborative strategies to ensure that the welfare of guest workers is addressed.

Mission

H.O.M.E. is committed to the principle that migration of people benefits the global society with a focus on the effects of migration within the context of Singapore.

* To develop research and education on the socio-economics of migration in Singapore
* To provide social integration services for emigrants and immigrants
* To provide humanitarian assistance for the effects of ‘crisis` migration

Migrants and migrant workers play a vital role in contributing to the communities of both sending and receiving countries. In Singapore many of them occupy positions in industries, such as construction, shipyard, manufacturing and services. A significant number of women migrants are domestic workers. We believe that Singapore, as a host nationshould take the interests of migrant workers into consideration and build a community that is a global family to all.

My Best Friend's Girl (2008) (M-18)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Comedy
Very disturbing chick flick, with heavy sexual content. Really warped sense of love, but you keep wanting to see the main lead actor and actress hit it off together. Both the guy and the girl have serious character flaws, yet I still love them, and want them to end up together. Quite a lot of visual irony. Oh, really, REALLY love the fashion which the cinematography, lighting and soundtrack comes together in the scene where Cook smokes his cigarette down the aisle of the church... It's easy wanting to condemn the show because of its amoralistic views towards relationships. But the comedic acting is solid~
