Hilarious show, with nice 3D effects. Love the Chinese-paper-cut art style of the intro and ending credits. Surprisingly there are new voice characters this time round. I didn't even know Michelle Yeoh was cast in this till i saw the credits.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

Great film, stupendous return of our beloved Captain Jack Sparrow. Off on a grand caper to find the fountain of youth. Got a real big fright within the first 3 minutes into the film; I'll not spoil it for you. And the end-of-credits secret scene is totally unexpected. Penélope Cruz sizzled in her role, even though she's supposed to be very much pregnant. But best eye-candy of the film award goes to the mermaids, savvy? Yo ho, yo ho!

Watched this on Mio Free TV movie channel. Good for some laughs. But the characterization not very well done. Cannot really understand why the protangonist suddenly have change of heart from her career-mindedness to suddenly want to have a baby. seems like a scare tactics to all the single ladies in their 30s... to go have a baby. Got a few familiar characters, like that funny guy from "Handsome Suits".

Lunch at Trinity (11 may '11)

Initiallt, it was a confusing lunch, as I wanted to pay for my friend's share, on account of her birthday; and our friend want to pay for me the birthday girl, cos' she wantst o treat me for my birthday (already 2 months) back. In the end. me and the birthday girl didn't have to pay anything. :p Huat ah! Thank God for generous friends~

Office May Birthday Celebrations (11 May '11)

Spent the day watching this concert parts of the DVD. A good 135 minutes of solid J-rock. If not for the earthquake and the subsequent nuclear incident that happened earlier in March this year, I could be there in Tokyo end of this month to catch their 20th Anniversary concert. :~( Ah well, let's hope i get to see them live sometime soon...

Fast Five (2011)

Managed to watch this last night, as CG was cancelled suddenly. Surprisingly entertaining story-telling, with an assembled cast from all 4 previous movies. Was a bit thrown off by the Korean guy character, cos thought he has already been written off in Tokyo drift; but from the Wikipedia entry, apparently this takes place before Tokyo Drift timeline. Too bad the soundtrack ain't as catchy as Tokyo Drift.

I wonder if you know, how we live in Toa Payoh... :P

Another free movie from Mio. A Japanese film adapted from a novel, talking about a boy growing up through passionate fighting. A over-sanitized and beautified tale of high school delinquency. Still it has its touching moments, despite the violence and the blood. The soundtrack is superb! Shounannokaze(湘南乃风/ しょうなんのかぜ) rocks!

Decided to catch another Mio movie, so chose this Japanese movie. Seems to be adapted from an anime series, and feels like a recruitment for Japan's SDF (Self-Defence Force). Nonetheless, the helicopters, planes and ships are real coool!

The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999)

This is on Mio free movie channel, so decided to watch it over the holidays. A good revisit to the Joan of Arc story. Love the way Luc Besson filmed the visions and the inner struggles. The politics of the times were pretty well written too. For its time, the battle scenes are pretty okay.
