Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)

The other film I got from library@esplanade was this Will Ferrell gem on NASCAR driving. Really, really hilarious. And a pre-Enchantment Amy Adams!! :P You gotta watch through all the featurettes. Pre-Borat SBC!!! All the sly (or not so sly) digs at the French. And the Americans. And fast car, big explosions...

Ringu (1998)

I never watched this on the big screen. So the other day, library@esplanade was having a halloween special, and putting out all the horror film titles. This caught my eye, so I brought it home to watch. It's still pretty creepy, for a low tech/special effects film. Loved the way the cinematography, lighting and music enhances the film experience. One can only imagine the heart palpitation watching this on a big screen with all lights turn out... :p

My friend told me to go visit this newly opened Western food stall near his home. Tried the lamb steak with macaroni and cheese, and garden salad. The garden was kinda disappointing, only 2-3 leaves of cabbage with thousand island sauce with black and white sesame seeds. It was nice, just kinda too small. The macaroni with cheese is pretty good; not your normal instant cheese gravy. But the lamb steak with the mushroom sauce and hint of mint is to die for! i sat down there for 30 minutes cleaning the bones of their meat. Worth going back again!

The Princess Bride (1987)

Now got this sound worm in my head... nnggghhh!!

But seriously, this is campy cheesy fantastical true love story at its best. I see this inspiring all the point and click adventure PC games of the 90s, with the pastoral setting, kitschy soundtrack/ sound motifs and generic fantasy character... well, except there were no elves, goblins, trolls, dwarfs, hobbits, dragons or sorcerers :P

Real Steel (2011)

Was a toss-up between "Friends with Benefits" and this show at my neighborhood theatre. Was glad I chose this. A sleeper hit, i must say. I was intrigued by the trailer a few months back. Surprising good story, with good acting from the adults and the child. And the robots! POW WOW BAM! This has road trip, boxing, father-son bonding, robots, cool chicks...
