Steamboat and Desserts (16 Dec '08)

Went out with ex-colleagues for a "makan" session. Brought them to my favourite steamboat haunt at Purvis street, and nice dessert place at Liang Seah street.

Werner's Oven

Food was homely yet fine. Tried the pork knuckles, ma ma mia! Skin is well-roasted to a crispiness that is not too oily. Goes superbly with the mustard, saurkraut and the mashed potato.

Had a Warsteiner Premium Verum-Pilsner, and it's all as the menu promised: "a smooth, rich-full bodied taste with a refreshing hop finish and no aftertaste; a clean, crisp, refreshing beer taste"

Had coffee and strudels for dessert. Strudel was just right, not too sweet. Coffee was from Santino, rich, strong-bodied taste.
