An international bestseller, this book won the Whitbread Award in June 2003. I was introduced to this book by a friend's friend, who's into maths puzzles. Before you jumped to the conclusion that this is a maths puzzle book of Sudoku-nature, let me tell you it is nothing of that nature.

It's a simple story of a 15-year old autistic kid trying to find out who murdered his neighbour's dog. It's a touching and though-provoking story-telling by Haddon, who used his experiences of working with autistic children into the narration. Do read it if you have the time!
