on personalising a promise from Him...

ha, yesterday as I was reading the scriptural passage study from Sunday's sermon, it suddenly struck me that if change the pronouns in it, it becomes a lot more powerful:

The Original Passage

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak,
because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.
- From 2 Cor 4: 7-14 (NIV)

Now If i change it this way (italics is my change)

But I have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from You and not from myself.
I am
hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
I always carry around in my body the death of You, so that the life of Yourself may also be revealed in my body.
For I who am alive is always being given over to death for Your sake, so that Your life may be revealed in my mortal body.
So then, death is at work in me, but life is at work in me also
It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith I also believe and therefore speak,
because I know that the one who raised You, Lord Jesus, from the dead will also raise me with Yourself and present me with the assembly of the saints in Your presence.

Hope this is ministering to you, as you lay hold on this promise~
