Church 31st Celebration at Suntec (30 Aug '09)

hmm, i'm older than the church! :p Anyway, today had a special anniversary celebration at Suntec. Initially was reluctant to go, because just didn't feel like going. By my CGL called me up last night and "jio jio" me to go with him :p In the end, I was surprisingly ministered by the testimonies I hear during the service. All I can shay ish...

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS XD

After the service, a few of us from the CG went to have lunch at the Guildhouse at Suntec. It was a great time of fellow-shipping and just chilling out over cozy food on a rainy sleep Sunday afternoon...

Walk along Southern ridges (29 Aug 09)

Yesterday my friends wanna go walk from Harborfront to Kent Ridge park. We stated out quite late, around 10.15 am. By the time, the sun was really hot! Still we amnaged to complete the canopy walk at Kent Ridge park by 1.20 pm in the afternoon. A good workout!

Indian Food (10 Aug '09)

Posting up these really old pics amidst putting up my newer pics. Went to Little India to celebrate buying my Polar-maru, with a sumtuous meal of fried floor and hard-boiled egg. Life is good whenwe can learn to enjoy the simple things ;D

The Proposal (2009)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Romantic Comedy
This is a very, very, VERY well-crafted chick-flick. Great scripting, great lines, great chemistry. It also wanna makes you wanna believe that beneath every power-hungry, domineering psycho-bitch, there is a lonely sad little girl who's afraid... Oh, and you won't feel emasculated after coming outta that show, because you would have laughed too much from all the funny scenes. Did I also mention the great support cast? Oh, do stay for the credits, more laughter...

P.S. Do go to the official site and watch the bloopers, AFTER you watched the show. If not, they'll be a giveaway to the jokes.

Good breakfast (25 Aug '09)

My friends dared me to post these pics up of what I had for breakfast in office, so here they are.

And all I wanna continue to say is~

The Lord is my good Trainer
I shalt not be in want

He makes me go gym
And do “xiong xiong” circuit training

He restores my health
And guides me in paths of right eating
For his name’s sake

Even though I walk in the canteen of “chai tau kway” and “bur bur char char”
I will fear no temptation
For you are with me
Your word and your Spirit
They comfort me

You prepare a feast before me
in the presence of my “critics” :p
You anoint my bread with oil;
my cup of wine overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

May this brighten up your day! :D

on completing the Singapore Bay Run (16 Aug '09)

Last Sunday went to run the 10km Men's Open section for the Singapore Bay Run (SBR). It's been over a decade since I last took part in any mass run. Went at the behest of a friend in office, who actually wanted to "jio" me for the 21km half-marathon. XD For a person that detests running, that's like asking for my life. I compromised a bit, and joined the 10km run instead. Thankfully, my RT session prepared me a bit for the run, so I did not join this run without training.

My brother also joined with his office friends, so we set out together that morning. We woke up at 5am on a Sunday morning, and went downtown via MRT. On the way, we spotted many of the SBR participants. Some were really "ga rung", and put on number tag and everything. Most were like us, sleepy-faced and yawning.

When the run started, I got separated from my brother and his friends. So I just went on my own way. The beginning part was kinda nightmarish, with people all around me crowding my way. I think I picked up my pace too fast during the first 30 minutes of my run. Think ran about 5plus km, then I stopped for a breather. After that, ran again for another 10 minutes plus, before "punctured out" at the 7km mark. Walk the remaining 3km plus back across the finishing line.

Surprise, surprise, I managed to cross the finishing line within my expected finish time ( which is 70 minutes, plus or minus 10 minute :p) Am glad to have done the race, but it'll be a while before I start yo join in mass runs again. Told mr friends in office if the thought of joining a race ever cross my mind again, will use the medal they gave me to hit myself silly on the head. :D

P.S. realised part of my story got truncated. Here's the full story. Hope it gets published :P

Comic Con Sin gapore (16 Aug '09)

haha, went down to Suntec after lunch with my church friends, to meet my office friends to "gia gia" around ComicCon Singapore '09. Lotsa cosplayers (costume players) , toys, comics and games there. Only snapped a few pics
of the more interesting things that caught my eyes. Too bad, couldn't catch my friend at her Blythe dolls' booth, as she was resting that day. Maybe can catch her next time at ComicCon '10.

Jin Ming's and Hui Fang's Wedding (15 Aug '09)

Haha, a very enjoyable wedding to be there at! Really blessed by the atmosphere of fun and family at the wedding. Caught up with ex-colleagues as we gathered for the wedding of our Ms. "Megavoice" :p Have a safe honeymoon there! Hope to get more wedding pics from you after you come back! :D

G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra (2009)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure
Lotsa action, and the plot moves surprisingly fast & coherent enough. Like what my friend says, it's G.I.Joe, dun expect Shakespeare. :p

District 9 (2009)

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy
Another cult-classic, with strong visual special effects. To me, it's a social commentary disguised as science-fiction and action movie. There's a lot of visual imagery, and the aliens are unbelievably human in their expressions, despite the crustacean appearance. I don't think I can look upon sambal prawns ever the same again...

Night-cap at Coffee and Tea-bean (13 Aug '09)

After dinner, some of us needed coffee (to keep awaks) and tea (to help us sleep). Don't ask me the logic of the earlier sentence, it just is... :P

Dinner ta Modesto's (13 Aug '09)

Went for a nice dinner at Modesto's near Forum, cos my friend has some vouchers which allows us to order 1-for-1 dishes. The pizzas were really delicious! The thin-crusted, wood-fired kind. And the pastas were marvellous as well.

We ordered a bottle of Leonardo Chianti Riserva DOCG; $70, a bit "xim tia" at first, but it really went down well with our palate.

All in all, it was a wonderful dinner~ I cleaned up most of the stuff in the end, cos' my friends said I should "jiak po" for the 6km run I ran the day before...

Lunch at Astons' (13 Aug '09)

Yesterday, some of us decided to head out to the newly renovated Aston's at Bedok's for lunch. While the rest of my friends enjoyed themselves on chicken and beef, I chose the humble Uncle Toby's and banana as my afternoon repast. Why, you may ask, would I do such an "uncharacteristic of Jack" thing? The reason is given in the next 2 photo albums... :p

on my latest toy - Polar-maru!

Realised I haven't write up about my latest toy. Was running at East Coast Park on Monday. Didn't have my watch with me, so didn't keep track for time. For me, wearing a watch is optional, since my hand-phone can tell the time when I need it. But just happen that day I was charging the phone battery, so I didn't bring my phone out.

Been thinking of buying a watch with heart-rate monitoring (HRM) functions since my RT days. My friends told me the best is to get a Polar time piece, since they are a bit more up-class than Timex pieces, yet more affordable than Garmin watches. So decided to go get a Polar watch after my jog on Monday.

Initially wanted to get just a basic watch with HRM functions. After 2walking around Bugis and City Hall area for a bit, found out the next level (with the foot-pod that can measure distance - AMAZING! ;p) is just a tad more expensive. So in the end, I bit the bullet and got my RS300X Sd aka Polar-maru.

And all I can shay ish

Huat ah!

on my first run with Polar-maru

Had a nice evening jog with my friend after office hours yesterday. Unfortunately, i didn't do up the settings properly on my Polar-maru, so it didn't capture the data from my footpod. Thanksfully, my friend managed to keep track of the run. Still I think there are some weird glitches, cos the results shows us running at over 180km/h towards the last stretch of the run. XD

More Pictures at Ion (08 Aug '09)

Went down to Ion again on Saturday. Took more pictures of toys and miscellaneous stuff. I can now proudly say I've walked all the levels of Ion, from top to bottom. I even went all the way up from to levels 5 to 8 (those are just the carpark levels)

And it's true what they say, the higher level you go, th more expensive the shopping became. Thankfully there's still a supermarket at level 4 where you can at least buy your drinks and stuff... :p well, some of the less pricer stuff, anyway XD

Botak Jones Lunch (07 Aug '09)

We went to Bedok Botak Jones to celebrate the upcoming birthday of our dear sisters Esther and Mel. The weather was scorching hot, and it was rather difficult to catch a cab. We all concluded from these that the Bedok-ians* all are willing to spend cash on cabs... Many happy returns and birthday blesisngs upon you all, Mel and Esther! XD

* or is it Bedok-ese? :p

Kudos to Nicole for the extra photos

Ikea Food Galore (07 Aug '09)

Birthday song for Auntie

Here's the clip where we sang out our hearts with gusto for auntie. Pardon for the high-pitch silly male voice - that was moi... :P

Auntie's Birthday Celebration (06 Aug '09)

This morning we took some time to celebrate the birthday for our pantry auntie, who has cleaned and washed up all the "mess". We showed our appreciation by buying a small cake for her, sang birthday song and prayed birthday blessings over her.

Thank you, Auntie, for coming in early everyday to wash our cups, vacuum the carpet as well as wipe the tables for us! :)

PS1102 Gathering (05 Aug '09)

Went to Brotzeit at Vivocity to meet up with the old gang of people. It's amazing how we are still in touch after 10 long years. Had a good time of catching up and laughing over silly jokes. You guys rock!~

Toys toys toys!~ (05 Aug '09)

After my show, decided to go gia gia around ION Orchard, since I haven't walked around tehre yet. Egads, the whole place is immense! I just walked about the 4 ground levels already, and is feeling a bit lost. So many things!!!

Found this shop, Titanium AV, that is selling, CDs, DVDs and all kinds of movie stuff. Found these cabinets full of figurines and toys and snapped my favourites~

Gai gai at Orchard Cineleisure (05 Aug '09)

Decided to clear my annual leave again yesterday. Was working on some urgent stuff at home in the morning, before rushing down to Orchard to catch "Public Enemy" at Orchard Cineleisure. Still had some time so walked around the place. They had a mini toys-display of the G.I. Joe action figurines, as part of the promotion of the upcoming film. The graphic design is pretty "chio"!

After that, went all the way down to the food-court area at basement level. They had this interesting shop that are selling all kind of Korean produce. Had this funny drink, "Nostalgia Drink, Soojeonggwa, since 1993". Taste very cinnamon-y, reminds me of cough syrup. :P

on clearing my RT...

Heh heh, shared this with my office people. May this bless you too (especially if you're going for RT :P)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Haha! Sharing with you guys in Singapore my happiness~ For those of you who’ve been wondering why I’ve been leaving office so early at 4pm these past 2 months, the reason is because I’ve been called back to army camp for my physical training. As you can see from below, I’ve not been passing my physical test the past few years.

Moreover, my weight had been approaching the 90 kilo mark, and prior to the 2 months training, my BMI was above 28.1. That’s high risk group, in case you don’t know.

http://www.hpb.gov.sg/hpb/default.asp?pg_id=997

To cut the long story short, after 2 months later and 3 kilos lighter, I managed to get the below results yesterday

Haha, though I didn’t pass, I managed to improve in all the sections! XD. Am thankful to God for that. My BMI has gone down too, to 27.1. At the rate I’m going, probably can hit the lose-20-kilo mark before I go Taiwan at the end of the year

Oh, I will still be hitting the Technopark gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during lunchtime, to continue on my weight-loss regime. Feel free to join me if you wanna burn some calories too!

For those who have been praying and encouraging me, thank you! Your concern kept me on. J “Huat ah” and “Oh Loh Zhu”!

RT! Clap! x2 *

Blessings,

Jack

* only RT warriors will understand this :P

P.S. After that, I went to celebrate at Chong Pang nasi lemak stall.

Bwahahhaha! Tempted to go for “sinful” lunch later? I still stand by my philosophy:

If I can’t make myself thin, I shall make the people around me fat…

:P
