on what is love?

Last Friday morning, my friend shared during office devotions on his experience and thought while taking part in his church 40 day program to love their neighbors. And one of the statement he uttered was "What is love?" And when he said that, I immediately recall the famous skit by Jim Carrey and gang

And while i was chuckling to myself, I did have some thoughts on what is love

1) Love is relational
Like what my friend shared, love can be communal, when you love thy neighbor as thyself. It also has to be between two parties, the lover and the beloved. Hence love is relational.

2) Love is sensual
Yeaps, love is physical and sensual. It's not only just touch and feel, but it involves sight, smell and hearing as well. Just go read Song of songs. However, there is a tendency in today's world to confuse sex with love. Not just among the young, but across all ages.

3) Love is practical
Yeaps, love is not just intellectual or metaphysical ("In your headdddd, it's in your heeeaadddd"). If you love somebody, you will definitely want to show your love in tangible forms. Thus the age of question "Do you love me?" never gets old...

4) Love is volitional.
Love, or Love not. There is no in-between, Choose wisely one must. Hrrrmmmm <(^!^ )>

5) Love is theological
We love, because He first love us. Nuff said.
