24/365 Prayer Chain

Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. - Daniel 6:10 (NIV)

This year, from July onwards, 52 churches in Singapore will be joining in a 24/365 Prayer chain movement (24 hours prayer, 365 days), whereby each of the 52 churches will take a week to leads its congregation in a 24/7 Prayer week (24 hours, 7 days). Covenant church has been given the privilege of being the 2nd church to start in the prayer movement.

Let us continue to pray just as Daniel did, even when powers of this world try to challenge us, for there is no God like our God.

    Hi, I just happened to notice your blog, would you mind telling me more about this 24/365 Prayer Chain? Sounds really interesting. I've heard about it, but really excited to know now that it's really happening.

    Hi Isabel. Yo, here's an excerpt from my church FAQ on what's it all about:

    "We believe God to be calling the churches in Singapore to hold a year long prayer chain for revival for our land. We are part of this prayer chain and will be joining with other churches to pray for revival for Singapore! The picture is that of the lamp before the tabernacle in the Old Testament, which God commanded to be lit continually before His Presence:

    Leviticus 24:2-3 (NASB)

    "Command the sons of Israel that they bring to you (A)clear oil from beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually.

    "Outside the veil of testimony in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the LORD continually; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations.

    We will be part of the chain to keep the "lamp" lit before the Lord for one year!"

    Not sure about which churches are participating though. I think Victory Life church is anchoring this week's 24/7, followed by CEFC next.

    Just to add on a bit more details...

    It's a call to look for 52 churches / group of churches that will anchor one week each for 52 weeks (1 year). The church / group of churches will be responsible for maintaining a 24-hr non-stop prayer chain for full 7 days, from Sunday 12 noon to the next Sunday 12 noon, where they will "hand over" during their worship service to a representative pastor of the next church in line.

    e.g. This week VFC is praying and this Sunday they'll hand over at 12pm to one of our Assoc Pastors during their service, and at 12pm, our church will begin the 24/7 prayer chain. After that, we'll hand over to West Side Anglican, and after that another church will take over... and so on until next year's GDOP, I think. Next year's GDOP will be the climax of the prayer chain. Cool huh?

    ahhh, it's West SIDE Anglican. I jotted it down as West LIFE Anglican. No wonder cannot find the church ah, and keep directed to weird boy band fansites... :P
