24/7 Day 6: Share ABout ME!

Haha, same thing happened this morning. Woke up to the alarm at 5am, closed my eyes, next thing I hear is my mom asking me," Eh, today no need to 做工 ah?" :P

Took a cab down again, and thankfully still made it in time for the worship session prior to the sharing. Pastor Kay Kiong took today's session and led us in a time of reflection on Mark 4:1-20. He asked us to take out our mobile phones and text to ourselves a prayer to God.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My prayer:

Dear God, help me not be like seed sown along the path, or seed that falls on rocky palces or amongst thorns, but help me to be like seed that falls on good ground. Teach me to understand Your parables and Yourself.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pastor KK also went to to share on 3 reason why we are not as fruitful as GOd intends us to be

1. We are not protected - Forgetting to put on the full armor of God!

2. We are untested - Cling onto Him when the bad things comes our way

3. We are undermined - Slow fade

Don's Appreciation Dinner (30 Jul '09)

Last night was the continuation of Don's appreciation lunch from the previous day. A few of us took our dear brother out for a light meal* and drinks after work last night. It was a good time of eating and laughing with one another over simple food and fare. Comapny's always more important, I always say. ;D

24/7 Day 5: Live For ME!

Eh, today really had problem waking up. I woke up to the alarm at 3am, close my eyes, re-opend them and found the clock telling the time at 4.20am! XD Quickly went to wash up. My dad was up in the kitchen, readying himself to go for the morning shift. Asked me why I was up, and told him so.

Managed to flag a cab, and was at church at 4.40-ish. By the time I reached the prayer room, Andy and the rest had already started. Still, it's interesting that I got to listen to Andy's sharing.Didn't stay for the 6am to 7.30am session, as I had to reach office by 8.30am.

Here is my take-away from the morning session.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 Chronicles 15
Take Courage like Asa!

Joshua 24:14-15

"Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

~Highlights are my own, as God is telling me the moment (Now); and it's fearing God and serving Him, not either or; and not with some faithfulness but with all faithfulness.

Galations 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Colossians 2:6-7

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Interesting use of tense...

Present Tense - Continue
Present Continuous Tense - Overflowing
Past Tense - Rooted, built up, strengthened

Not about bloodlines or faith of our forefathers...

24/7 Day 4: Owned by ME!

haha, today didn't wanted to walk all the way from home to church, because got RT later today. So took a cab down. Was there 15 minutes early, but the main gates was shut!

Panicked a bit, till I see Edmund Wong alighted from a taxi just a couple of minutes later. Thankfully, the gates were opened from the inside before time, and we started the thing on time. Matthew Lo and some of his youths were anchoring the 2-4am session, so we took over from them.

Remembered to bring my pen today, so managed to write down more stuff on the spot when they struck me.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Psalm 91

Be still for the presence, the glory and the power of the LORD

Cease Striving and know that I am God - Psalm 46:10

Come Holy Spirit
O Most High, You who are my stronghold
When trouble comes You're my hiding place
To keep Your lovely face
No rival thrones survives, and I serve only YOU

Revelations 3

Revelations 4:10

"...fall down before Him, who sits on the throne, & will worship Him who lives for ever and ever."

Col 1:13, 15

You laid aside Your majesty
Surrender to God anything on Your heart
Parable of the sower!
Know God more, and fear God more

Luke 11:1-12

How much more will your Father in Heaven
give the holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

Isaiah 55

Don's Appreciation Party

Had a good time at lunch time appreciating our brother Don, who'll be moving back to the marketplace at the end of the month. Will be missing his warm presence and jovial jokes. ;D Don't be a stranger, bro! Come back and visit often!

P.S. More photos, thanks to Eddie using the office camera :D

24/7 Day 3: Trust ME!

28 Jul '09
Pastor Gilbert facilitated the 2 - 6 am session this morning. It was great seeing Willie again at 4am today. Decided not to take the 2-4am slot, because gotta come back to work. Still, it's great to see somebody other than the facilitator come and anchor the 2-4 am slot ("the graveyard shift", as my friends and I call it when we anchored it the first 2 years).

This morning was a bit harder to stay awake, and I forgot my pen too! Didn't get to write down more stuff, as there were not enough pens. Still, am grateful to God for the following take-aways:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exodus 17:8-16

The Amalekites Defeated

verse 10: Moses , Aaron & Hur - Why 3 people? Why not just Moses?
So that man may not boast

verse 14: Make sure Joshua hears it - so that the LORD is glorified

verse 15: The LORD is my Banner - no physical banner, yet hands were lifted up to the throne of God

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Praying from a position of victory and humility & brokeness - Is that possible?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trust in the LORD with all your heart

       and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight

- Prov. 3:5-6
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
in God I trust; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

- Psalm 56:11
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

- 2 Corinthians 1:9
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

- Ephesians 2:10
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Psalm 63
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
1 O God, you are my God,
       earnestly I seek you;
       my soul thirsts for you,
       my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
       where there is no water.

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life,
       my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.

 5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

 6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.

 8 My soul clings to you;
       your right hand upholds me.

 9 They who seek my life will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.

10 They will be given over to the sword
       and become food for jackals.

 11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God's name will praise him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

24/7 Day 2 : Know ME!

Da-Win facilitated the session, and started us off with a time of singing worship songs, stilling our hearts before the LORD. After that, he got us to mediate upon God's word and to respond to God in a time of prayer. I used the verses that were recommended in the prayer booklet, and here are my take-aways:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Exodus 3:14

I AM who I AM, I WILL BE what I WILL BE.

God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob

Exodus 3: Moses and the burning bush

2. Jeremiah 9:24

I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight. (italics mine)

kindness before all things - what the world needs most!

not wisdom, not strength, not riches

but one who understands God and know Him

WARNING! The days are coming when I will punished all who are circumcised only in the flesh - the LORD in Jer. 9:25

3. Revelations 1:8

I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty

- Beginning and the End, present, past, future, all powerful

cross-referenced to v17:

First and the Last, the Living One, was dead and am alive for ever and ever!

the world knows Him as a carpenter, a great teacher, a rabble-rouser, one who sits with sinners, a blasphemer...

What do we know Him as?

Hindrance to Faith

Knowing about God VS Knowing God

Wanting to know the will of God VS Wanting Him in our lives

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Going for prayers in the wee hours of the morning~

My church is entering a season of prayer this whole week, starting since yesterday afternoon. Felt led by God to go for the dead man's watch again. Set my alarm, but think I was too tired. By the time I woke up, it was like 1.40-ish a.m.!! :p Went to wash up. My sis was still up at the unearthly hour, cos' she was waiting for her hair to dry. Managed to chit-chat with her a bit before zooming outta my home on my trusty Jamis-maru.

I think i really need to oil my bicycle gears; knees were hurting as I pedaled. Managed to reach the church grounds by 2.15-ish. Although was quite groggy when I woke up, still had the good sense to pack a new tee-shirt before I left. Changed into that before I went for prayers. Was pleasantly surprised to find familiar faces. Had a good time of worshipping, singing and praying together. Initially wanted to stay from 2 - 4 am, in the end prayed from 2.15 till 6 am. Still having RT later today, so thought of coming home earlier to rest. All in all, God has blest this time... THANK YOU GOD!

Yong Tau Hoo Lunch @ Siglap (24 Jul '09)

We went to Siglap for lunch today, to have a belated birthday celebration lunch ofr our brother Billy aka "Godfather". It was Linda's first time and Don's second time at the place! :D We had lotsa fun and laughter over the food, and enjoyed taking funny pictures in front of the camera. XD

Additional phoptos courtesy of Eddie and Nicole using the new office Canon camera~

Sweat-It-Out@ECP (23 July '09)

Yesterday, we went to East Coast Park for a "Sweat-It-Out" session for the office sports session. We can walk, jog, run or bike during the 1 & 1/2 hour session. The weather was pretty hot, as it was sunny. Thankfully, there were also big winds to cool us down a bit.

Me and another friend jogged from office to East Coast Park via the Siglap Park connector, then we joined the rest of the gang for a 1 hour bike ride. On the whole, it was a good work-out session. :D

Kudos to Bob for bring along the camera and taking these pictures~

Lunch @Thai Express (23 Jul)

Yesterday some of us took Bob out for a nice lunch before he flew back to Guam. It's been real fun having him around the office, helping us with the finance training and fixing stuff. We'll be missing him lots, since we haven't really hear all of hios stories. Have a good flight, Bob! ;P

Photos taken courtesy of Eddie; Thank you, ma man, for posting your pics up! B-)

NNNOOOOOOooooooooo.......

Dinner around Adam Road (11 July '09)

Caught up with a couple of friends for dinner around Adam Road last night after my Remedial Training. Didn't managed to eat the famous "tulang", as my friends are not great fans and the delicious but immensely messy dish. Still we had the wonderful mutton soup, the hot hot satay, the not-bad prawn noodles and the my-oh-my teh kosong halia! XD

Wanted to go Island Creamery for desserts but my friends had no more stomach space. So we adjourned to MacDo for a light after-dinner tea with the oiishi "cinnamona meltru" XD

P.S. Thanks Eddie for spotting the typo XD

Supper at Al-ahmeen (05 Jul '09)

Well, this sounds like the never-ending story... :P After drinks, needed to 解酒. Took a cab down to Bukit Timah Al Ameen eating house and finally concluded the day by drinking hot kopi-tarik with prata...

A long day: tiring? yes; enjoyable? YES! XD

Drinks at the Pump Room (05 Jul '09)

Well, the rain didn't abate even after dinner. For those of us who are still around, we adjourned to the Pump room@Great World. Even though it was a micro-brewery place, felt like drinking wine. So again, chit-chatted and joked over beer and wine for those of us who were there...

Dinner at Cedele (05 Jul '09)

As it was still pouring cats and dogs after the run has ended, two of our friends kindly ferried us across to Great World City Plaza. We spent some time walking around the place before deciding on dinner at Cedele, upon Jonathon's recommendation. The food and drinks were fantastic for the price, and we had lotsa laughter and fun fellow-shipping with one another.

Community Streetwise Run (05 Jul '09)

Yesterday we went down to Copthorne Hotel area to take part in the Streetwise Run. Even though the weather turned dark and rained cats and dogs, we still had a lot of fun cheering the runners and walking the route for fitness.

Even from the start of the event, it was drizzling pretty heavily. The parents decided to harbor at one corner inside Copthorne Hotel cafe (because of their babies), while the rest of us decided to press on. Half-way the downpour became too heavy and we also took cover under shelter along the buildings. But the runners just continue on running.

Kudos to all the runners!

McDonald's Cinnamon Melt

Rating:★★★★
Category:Other
ok, rarely do I dedicate a review to a food item. But this is a must-try new dessert item at you McDo, if you have it. Oh, and it's meant to be shared. Silly me didn't realised you can break up the bun into separate pieces. :P

Ice Age 3/ Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009)

Rating:★★★★

hahaha, laughed my head off last night at this film, even though I was sitting two rows away from the big screen, had to constantly tilt my head up and tuck my leg in, AND catch the additional comments from the kid sitting behind me. Oh, there's nothing new to the storyline, if you watch them one, you've seen them all. Still, it was highly enjoyable. Definitely a 4-stars for moi...

PC '09 Committee Afterglow Lunch 02 Jul '09

Finally we had the time to have this lunch, nearly 2 months after the event :p Pauline took the organising committee out for lunch. Technically I'm not part of the committee, since I left halfway because of my reservist. But they asked me along anyway.. so "huat" ah! XD "Jia pwee pwee" again!

P.S. After that, went to Mcdonalds for desserts, cos I had craving for ice-cream cone. But got side-tracked, because ah Tan said must try the new cinnamon melts. There were heavenly! But like Jeslin said, there goes my "fake diet"... :P
