on catching a show with momma...

As you know, my previous 2 movies before "Rob-B-Hood" were the pits. It kinda made me swear off movies for a while. However, my mom wants to catch the the Jackie Chan film. So decided to spend some quality time with her*.

Went online early yesterday morning to check for the screening timings. Told her got 12 noon and 1.30pm shows at Causeway Cathay, which one did she preferred? She said lets settle for the 1.30pm show, as she wanna catch the daytime soap-serial at 11am.

Left the house and took a feeder bus, as the weather was not really good to walk in, sunny, bright, humid yet hazy. My mom wanted to pay for the tickets, but i "waylaid" her. No way gonna let her pay the tickets, and let her "gloat" in front of my siblings for paying for my ticket. :P

She told the ticket-sales counter girl she wanted to watch the film in MAndarin, despite seeing that the girl was Malay. After an awkward moment,** I just told the sales-counter girl "2 tickets for Rob-B-Hood".

Surprisingly, there was quite a lot of people watching the film, on a Tuesday afternoon. the theatre was about 30% filled. Anyway, am glad I spend the time laughing with my mom, over the silly antics of the actors. The plot is alright, and Jackie Chan can still pull his moves, despite his advancing age. Absolutely loved the cameos and the corny scripting of some of the scenes.

My mom thanked me after the end of the show, to which I shrugged off. Think it irritated her ;p ah well, as they say, you can't have the icing on the cake...

* Yea, weird. In a movie theatre, can't talk heart to heart, stare at big blank screen for 2 hours, what kind of "quality time" is that?? But I guess the idea is to spend time WITH my mom, as opposed to spend time with myself. So in my dictionary, still counts as "quality time" :p

** of about 2 seconds...

  1. Ha. Nice. My friend told me something I'd never forget after I mumbled some thoughts about my mum - the fact that it bothers you to think through how she feels, waylaid-ing her, wondering how much quality there is in "quality time" already shows you care.
