Tried applying for a position with the "gahmen"* the other night. Can't believe the hassle I have to go through, just applying for a job, It's like digging all the way back to my 18th generation ancestry. Not the first time I am applying for a position online within the civil service; but come on la - after you asked me whether can post my transcript and resume online, you STILL want me to fill in your field columns on the webpage?! was so "pek-chek" that I closed the application process halfway. Probably get back to it tomorrow^ ...
went cycling on my dad's "lau pok chia" the next day, just to work off the extra steam. Decided to go to Kranji War Memorial. That place is actually very peaceful and quiet, despite the proximity of the Turf Club. You guys must be thinking, "Poor Jacko, lost his marbles already. Why would he want to hang out with tombstones and dead soldiers..." well, for one thing, each and every of the tombstone represent a valiant soldier doing his bit in the war so many years ago^^. Some of the chaps don't even have to be there; I see soldiers from England, India, Australia... And some of the living and breathing relatives today still travel all the way down to pay respects to the dead, in remembrance of their deeds. Many of them wrote a little something in the memorial registry - in honor of this uncle, that husband...
I just enjoy the serenity and tranquility within the memorial. I often go there to do my quiet time** or solitude. I dunno, there just seems to be a solidness to that place~ inexplicable, with my limited vocabulary la. You have to be there to experience for yourself.
Last night went to help out at friends' wedding rehearsal. At least this time round doing something different apart from my previous roles. Last few rounds had been arrowed as the person-in-charge of logistics/ushering. At least this time round get to try my hands at being the emcee. hmm, if this keeps up, perhaps I can start my own business of being a full time church wedding planner.
ok, enuff info for tonite, time to hit the sack...
“ Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. ”- Psalm 119:165
*Singlish for "government". Seriously, that's how all the kopi-tiam old men pronounced the word when they want to discuss politics...
