on a blessed Christmas Eve night...

went to Bukit Panjang last night, as the church held a Christmas countdown party. My family had their own program, so had to settle dinner myself. Thank God for providing a splendid spread through the generosity of the people. Me? I just brought an empty stomach. :P Yes, I know this makes me sounds like a cheapskate and not well-mannered; but hey, from experience, there's usually too much food not being consumed and being left behind as left-overs. So I considered myself as one of Nature's garbage-disposers. :D

Tagged along onto one of my friend's CG, as most of my CG already made plans for last night, or just wanted the time to spend with their family. Am glad to meet new friends and just bask in the family-warmth-ness of another CG. Also, a few of the "crazy" cast from the morning musical were there - had fun ribbing and disturbing one another. Also got to say Christmas greetings to a few important people*,  whom I missed seeing in the morning.

After the supper, adjourned to the main sanctuary for a time of worship and entertainment. haha, the church "rehashed" the music from last year's Christmas CD. But that didnt matter, as we still belt out the songs in genuine spirits of cheer and joyfulness.

Was especially blessed by the item put up by some of the ladies in the Cantonese service. The way which they sang their hearts out and danced for the Lord, was especially moving. They did a Cantonese rendition of the hymn "I Will Follow Him" ala Sisters' Act style. Very daring for some of the ladies to boogie in front of the congregation, especially when some of them are aged over 60s.** Alas, they didn't do an encore after the end of the performance. Nonetheless, I was very impressed by the joy and the love which these ladies expressed in their item.

After that, we had "Walking on Water", a local R&B Gospel band performed in-house inside the church. Say what you will, in-house live performance still wins hands down, as compared to listening to CD and radio. Am glad I was able to listen to the live performance of the 4 talented women artistes.

Thank God was still able to catch the last bus home, even though the celebrations ended way after 12 midnight. God is good, as usual... :D

** Don't ask me how I know their age. It's never polite to disclose a woman's age... :p
