on escalating mobile phone bills and a new home phone...

these past 2 months have been very “凶”on my wallet, as I had to fork out between $50-70 on my hand phone bill. Was still wondering why I was charged so high, then I realised actually my plan do not cover for all free incoming calls. As i recall the times I talked with impunity on my phone, happily asking my friends to talk longer as I said to them "Never mind la, FREE incoming calls what", I "wept"* uncontrollably in my heart.

The moral behind this tale: Know Thy Handphone Plan Billing!

In the end, went to shop with my sister on a new house phone. We walked the length and breadth of the telephone counter in the shop at least 5-6 times. Went around playing with the phones, both corded and cordless. We were thinking for convenience's sake, might as well get a cordless phone. But all the cordless phone models really cannot make it. Most look like toys, with the very plastic-y feel. In the end, we settled on a cheap cordless model, because we knew in our hearts most electric appliances don't last beyond 3 years in our household.** No point spending a bomb-shell^ on aesthetics and durability. So far the new phone functions adequately. I'm just giving thanks I can start talking to people at home again using the house phone, thereby cutting on my mobile phone fees...

*Real men do not weep on the outside! (Right.) They will rather bleed to death first before shedding a single drop of tear~ 大丈夫流血不流泪。。。

** Don't know whether it's they don't electrical appliances as they used to, or that my family really are rough on our belongings...

^ Figuratively, of course. We don't keep an ammunitions dump at home... :D
