2 things I got of this film:
a) My friend joked that one should never go and "结义"/become sworn brothers as it would almost always lead to no good end. (think of 三国桃园结义 and 梁山结义)
b) Men fight best when they are desperate ("抢钱，抢粮，抢娘们儿！！" :D )

I dun like the show... :) watched it ysty... too bloody and all die in the end! Also quite anti christ... hw can the person talk abt Jesus feeding the 5000 becomes insane...and the laoda (Jet Lee) knows that woman is the brother's wife..still carry on have affair with her...morally wrong...
ReplyDeleteeh, 青菜葡萄，各有所好, the gore and the bloodiness are there for a reason, to emphasize the senselessness of war and the preciousness of life.
ReplyDeleteErm dun get your anti-christ linkage. In the show, the soldiers were starved to the point of delusion. They were probably passing on some rumors that were spreading round the camp. I think the point is that they needed some hope to continue to live on.
And if you remember your Chinese history a bit, the Taiping Uprising were started by Chinese rebels who were Christian converts at first. Along the way, they gained a lot of power and prosperity and went off tangent from the original intentions of bring the kingdom of heaven to earth... In my opinion, I won't call the film anti-Christ la.
